Supervoices 2012!

Mensen!

Het jaar 2011 is nog niet eens om en nu al zijn we als hofleverancier van de geluidsbanden alweer begonnen aan de producties voor Supervoices 2012!

Update :

Vorige week zijn we begonnen aan de eerste productie van de in totaal 11 songs voor dit mega-vocale evenement. “Need you now” van Lady Antebellum hebben we binnen de week opgenomen, gearrangeerd en gemixed.

Geen slechte start dus.

Vandaag zijn we begonnen met de productie van Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”. Na vier uurtjes werk zitten we ongeveer op de helft van de productie. Je kunt wel zeggen dat het redelijk voortvarend verloopt.

Na Lady Gaga zijn Adele en Robbie Williams aan de beurt en houden we je uiteraard op de hoogte van de ontwikkelingen tijdens de producties voor supervoices 2012.

Mixing van de FF2011 Live registratie

On September 17th 2011 our family, together with close friends and special guests, played over 30 hitsongs from artists like : Eric Clapton, The Doobie Bro’s, CCR, Blondie, Talking Heads, The Eagles, Gary Brooker, Fleetwood Mac, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, Aretha Franklin, Annie Lennox, Stretch, The Stones and The Beatles.

We’ve been organizing this music-fest for 3 years now, and we had decided to record the show this time.

A week after the show I received the tracks on disk (Alesis HD24) including a IDE to FW (fire port) converter to transfer the tracks to .WAV-files. Exporting took about 4 hours and importing the tracks and setting-up the sessions took about 2 hours.

As of yesterday I’ve been working on session1 and quickly came to realize I really like the way a live performance is captured. It just breaths energy!

Sure, there are technical issues that need to be addressed, but you can feel the band enjoying playing the songs. I already was able to handpick at least 7 songs from the first session quite easily. Songs which in my opinion qualify for the CD we will be making out of this. Next saturday my dad and I will continue to choose more songs from all sessions and decide which tracks will make it to the album. After that, the mixing will commence.

I’ll keep you guys posted on the progress made with this enjoyable project!

Eerbetoon aan Joe Reidnied.

PlasticSoul heeft zijn medewerking verleend aan het eerbetoon ter nagedachtenis van Joe Reidnied. Een goede vriend van mijn vader. De dochter van Joe wilde graag een nummer van de Searchers opnemen in de stijl van de jaren 60 als eerbetoon aan haar vader. Joe dus.

Het is uiteindelijk het nummer ”Needles and Pins” geworden en PlasticSoul heeft de opname, arrangementen, mix en mastering voor zijn rekening genomen omdat we het zo’n fijn initiatief vonden.

Afgelopen week zijn de drums opgenomen. Vandaag heb ik de basgitaarpartij ingespeeld (op zijn 60′s natuurlijk) en daarvoor heb ik de EMI RS124 Compressor gebruikt.

Man! Wat een monster is dat! Héérlijk gewoon. Alsof je McCartney zélf bent!
